Instant Pot Models Comparison

When there is a lot of choice like there is with Instant Pot models you need to know why you are buying this one instead of another. This can be a time consuming task if you really want to make a decision fast. Basically your choice should be influenced by what you want out of your Instant Pot pressure cooker.

The Instant Pot is full of many features which may be more than enough for one buyer. That is to say sometimes you may want to buy a top of the range Instant Pot while you may not use all the available features and may be you could have been better off buying a lower version or alternate model.

Here is what you need to consider or when comparing the models in order to come to a decision.

      1. Know what you want with your Instant Pot
      2. Know what options/models are in the market
      3. Price – is price an issue
      4. Size – What size of the pot do you want
      5. Features – which features in a model are more inclined to your needs

The above are just the basics there is more involved when coming to features and determining whether a feature is important for you or you drop it for another model. There is an example below of a thought process you might follow in order to choose the right model for your needs.

Compare Instant Pot Models

You can compare Instant Pot models by make or version, size, SMART built-in programs, number of other appliances replaced, price. These are not the only features to look at when you want to choose the right model for you. Below is an example of a thought process you might follow should you want to purchase an Instant Pot. Say you are torn between buying a DUO and LUX. Here is the thought process;

Instant Pot 8 Quart vs 6 Quart

As a starting point you may want to determine whether you want a bigger pot or smaller one. The 8 Quart is obviously bigger than the 6 quart but you may find that you are a person who likes to cook more food so that you cook only once a week.

Perhaps you are a busy person. Or you might need a bigger sized pot because there is many of you in the family or take longer days without cooking.

Choice of size will depend on the number of people to cook for, how often you want to cook, etc.

Instant Pot Duo vs LUX

Then after determining the size you want, say you have already decided to buy either the DUO or LUX but still torn between. That is to say the Instant SMART or DUO Plus are not an option, just for argument’s sake. And you have decided to buy the 6 quart Instant Pot. The next thing to ponder on is which 6 quart between the LUX and DUO.

As an example you want an instant pot but not sure if the DUO model is right for you since there is a LUX module which can equally do what you want as the DUO would. In this instance you will want to compare specifically the Instant Pot DUO vs LUX. You will start looking at why the DUO might be better than the other that is in line with your needs.

At a glance, the DUO has more 4 more programs than the LUX. Now the question would be of the 4 extra programs are they useful to you. Are they extras that have some use to you? This is not to say the extras may not be useful, but if you look at what you need the Instant Pot for, are they worth it? As an example if you don’t like to make your own yogurt the program in the DUO may be not be useful to you.

Instant Pot LUX60 vs DUO60

So still narrowing down your decision, you have determined that you want a 6 quart, not Instant Pot 5 quart size, not Instant Pot DUO80 nor do you want an Instant Pot DUO Plus nor the IP-SMART. Rather you still want to compare Instant Pot DUO60 vs LUX60. But at this instance you might want to look at the price. Price might be an element to consider if you are on a budget. The DUO costs more than the LUX simply because it is a higher version of the latter.

If you are constricted by the budget you will probably go for the less costly one i.e. the LUX60. Especially when you have decided that you do not need the additional 4 SMART programs in the DUO.

Say you have realized that you do not need the 4 extra In-Built SMART programs in the DUO, the next thing to consider is another advantage or benefit of why you want to buy an Instant Pot. So, before you go ahead to purchase the LUX consider this;

Instant Pot 6 in 1 vs 7 in 1

The DUO is a 7 in 1 while the LUX is a 6 in 1. That is the former would do the work of 7 kitchen appliances while the latter will do the work of 6. That is to say if you have the LUX, you might have to buy another appliance that you wouldn’t have to if you bought the DUO. Or on the flip side you might already own the 7th appliance that the DUO replaces in which case you might want to opt for the 6 in 1.

Instant Pot Accessories

The basic Instant Pot accessories are the same for each model you want to buy. The only difference is the size of the inner pot that goes with the Instant Pot size you would have chosen. Any additional accessory can be purchased separately depending on your needs. One of the accessories that are worth buying is the Instant Pot Sous Vide Accu SV800 Immersion Circulator. It adds to cooking options you will have with this revolutionary pressure cooker.
